Case Study: Bennetts Funerals

Bennetts Funerals is a longstanding family run business that began way back in 1891. It serves the vicinity of Essex with over 100 years of experience in arrangements that are respectful and sensitive. In order to further maintain the integrity of this business it was essential that it continued to move with the times and upgrade its security.

We were approached to install our sophisticated and up-to-date systems in order to provide security to their fleet of impressive vintage vehicles and that the site was properly secured.

After having inspected the site, looking for blind spots and areas for improvement, we discussed this with the client so that we could agree on what would be done and importantly, why, in order to get their input and personal experience. This is very valuable to us as we endeavour to provide top rate customer service and each client has unique needs that need to be met differently, which is why it is important to us to incorporate their knowledge. From this we learned that criminal damage and graffiti is a problem in the area and so we included this into the specification that we would need to satisfy.

Bennetts Funerals site did have CCTV but it was only analogue and so we upgraded this to HD 1080p so that in the case of criminal activity it would be much more reliable in capturing the criminal.

We also fitted automated gates so that the building and site would be less easily accessible to intruders; they also work as an effective deterrent to potential criminals and offer privacy to those within.

Case Study: Winfresh

After 5 years of dedicated custom the leading banana trader in the Windward Islands contacted Communicate UK to design and implement a new gate automation and access control system at their Winfresh UK banana ripening centre. Located in close proximity to Stansted airport the 11 acre site boasts state of the art ripening and production facilities with the capacity to ripen over 5 million boxes of bananas annually.

The staff at the world renowned ripening centre needed to control the access of large artic lorries and every day visitors into the rapidly expanding site.
After a visit from Communicate’s specialist access control surveyor it was decided that Communicate would install an intercom system with the capability of interconnecting with a Paxton access control system and their telephone system, with a dedicated number on all telephone handsets programmed to open the main entrance gate. It was also decided that the existing CCTV system would be upgraded and all staff would have the ability to view the CCTV images from all of their computers in order to have complete control on who is entering and exiting the site.

By making the most out of the existing gates on site, Communicate’s in-house fabricator was able to keep the cost down whilst ensuring the existing gates were custom fabricated to fit their new purpose and comply with the relevant safety standards.

From gate fabrication and ground work to electrical supplies and automation programming, Communicate was able to undertake all work in-house yet again saving Winfresh money on multiple subcontractors.

With the main shareholders of Winfresh being the Governments of the four Windward Islands, St. Lucia, Dominica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada, Communicate have yet again provided and implemented a bespoke access control system for a world class organisation.

Case Study: V Festival

When you have 85,000 visitors and countless celebrities in one place their health & safety is paramount. The V-Festival in Chelmsford covers a vast area and CCTV is the only option to monitor such a large crowd over a wide area.

Management explained to our Communicate engineers that they needed to be able to monitor all access points at the perimeter of the venue, but also required the ability to monitor the crowd throughout the whole venue. Several offices across the site were used by security teams and the police, each requiring access to the live videos.

After a site survey the Communicate engineers recommended the installation of a hard wired CCTV camera solution at strategically placed sites across the venue. To achieve full coverage we recommended 12 fully operational dome cameras. These cameras are movable using a joy stick controller to enable viewing across a wider area. We also recommended 5 fixed cameras where movement wasn’t needed, and were fixed on a location.

Such was the complexity of the installation that we recommended a man on site throughout the whole event. In the event of an emergency or equipment failure our on-site engineer would be on hand to deal with the situation.
